Marshall County Community Foundation Announces
New Scholarship Fund in Memory of Zane & Zoie Triplet

Zane & Zoie Triplet - November 2006

12/28/07 --
The Marshall County Community Foundation (MCCF) is pleased to announce
a new scholarship fund established in memory of Zane and Zoie Triplet,
former students at LaVille Jr.-Sr. High School and LaVille Elementary
School. Zane, 17 and sister Zoie, 8, were involved in a tragic automobile
accident on U.S. 6 near Bremen in early July 2007 which claimed
their lives.
The purpose of the memorial scholarship fund is to provide an annual
scholarship to a LaVille High School senior. The recipient shall
be active in athletics for four years and in 4-H for five years.
In addition to the prior two qualifications, the scholarship shall
be based on need. Applications are available from the LaVille High
School Guidance Counselor. The first scholarship of $2,500 will
be awarded in May 2008.
Since July, many area residents, including the Marshall County Jr.
Golf Tour, 4-H Buyers Group, Newton Park, LaVille Elementary Market
Day and Jog-a-thon, LaVille Junior Football League, and Cornerstone
Community Fellowship, have contributed to the scholarship fund,
originally held in an account at 1st Source Bank in Bremen. With
the help of Ken Carbiener at 1st Source Bank, Tony and Sherri Triplet
(Zane & Zoie's parents) decided to entrust the Marshall County Community
Foundation with the memorial scholarship fund.
"We wanted to have a permanent home for the scholarship. We wanted
a local organization to manage the funds and ensure that our wishes
are carried out long into the future," said Tony Triplet. "We felt
the Marshall County Community Foundation was the best place for
the scholarship," said Sherri Triplett. "There is a need for scholarships
at LaVille Jr.-Sr. High School. Our memorial scholarship is only
the fourth scholarship fund at the Marshall County Community Foundation
to benefit LaVille seniors."
The fund was established with $30,000. Executive director, Jennifer
Maddox added, "The memorial scholarship fund will also receive a
25-cent match for every dollar donated (over the first $5,000) to
start the scholarship because of our Generations Initiative. This
means the fund will receive an additional $6,250 from the Initiative.
I'm very pleased the scholarship fund will start with even more
money."
"Additional contributions to the memorial scholarship fund are welcome,"
said Ms Maddox. "All donations are tax deductible and the scholarship
fund will receive the Generations Initiative matching funds through
June 20, 2008."
The mission of the Marshall County Community Foundation is to serve
all of Marshall County, its people and its future through the growth
and administration of endowment funding and philanthropy. For more
